Manethana
The Arya Maratha Kshatriya Community in Dakshina Kannada district prominently has 24 clans and 72 sub-clans. Of these there are Rigvedis, Yajurvedis and also those belonging to Sooryavamsha and Chandravamsha. (There are two more vamshas namely Brahmavamsha and Sheshavamsha. But these Vamshas seem not to be in existence in Dakshina Kannada). They were initially considered Rajaputha Rashtrakutas and later as Maharashtrians. They have Saptarishi Moola Gotras and Sootras. The Community members are the disciples of Sri Sri Shringeri Sharada Peetha Jagadguru and pursue Vedic and Shodasha traditions.
